How to Combine School Papers into One PDF on iPhone

Last updated 2026-10-29 · Paperkeep Pro feature

School papers trickle home a page or two at a time, so even scanned they pile up into dozens of files. Paperkeep Pro's “Merge” bundles the documents you pick into one new PDF, leaving the original scans as they are.

First, with iOS's built-in tools

  1. In the Files app, open the folder with the scanned PDFs or photos, tap “⋯” at the top and choose “Select”.
  2. Pick the files, tap the “⋯” button at the bottom and choose “Create PDF” to get one combined file.
  3. Open the result and check the page order. If it's off, number the file names and create it again.

With Paperkeep

  1. Make sure the papers show in the main Documents list; if one sits in a folder, use “Move to Folder” → “Documents (no folder)”.
  2. Tap “More” (⋯) → “Sort by” → “Oldest first”; documents merge in the order the list shows, so the pages join in the order they came home.
  3. Tap “Select”, tick the documents to combine and tap “Merge” at the bottom.
  4. A new document named “Merged …” appears. Rename it to something like “Week of Oct 19 school papers”.
  5. The separate scans are still there; clear them with “Select” → “Delete” if you don't need them. They stay in “Recently Deleted” for 30 days.

Tips for this document

  • Pick a fixed day, say Friday night, to merge the week; by the end of term you'll have one file per week instead of a stack.
  • The “Grayscale” filter handles school flyers that mix tables, clip art and photos.
  • Scan permission slips and tear-off forms before they go back to school, so you can check later what you signed up for.
