Privacy Policy
Last updated: 17 October 2026
Paperkeep does not collect your data. There is no account, no server, no analytics and no third-party SDK in the app, and the app contains no networking code. Nothing you scan, type or do in Paperkeep is sent anywhere, and we have no way to see it.
Your documents stay on your iPhone
Scans, imported files, the text Paperkeep recognizes, titles, folders, tags and every edit are stored in Paperkeep's own storage on your iPhone. Your documents are ordinary PDF files in Files › On My iPhone › Paperkeep, protected by iOS data protection (unreadable while your iPhone is locked). If you use iCloud or device backups, iOS may include them in your own backup, under your Apple Account — never ours.
On-device processing
Edge detection, filters, text recognition (Apple's Vision framework), Live Text selection, document types, receipt totals and every PDF tool run on your iPhone. Visual Look Up, which would contact Apple's servers, is turned off.
What leaves the app's screens — still on your iPhone
- Widgets show the titles of your most recent documents (never page images or text), and nothing while App Lock is on.
- Spotlight search can find documents by title and type (never their text); locked documents are not indexed.
- Shortcuts can open the scanner or a document by its title.
- Your signature, if you draw one, is kept in this iPhone's Keychain only (not synced).
Permissions
Camera: only to scan. Contacts: only when you tap "Add to Contacts" on a business card, and Apple's contact sheet lets you review before saving. Face ID: only if you turn on a lock. Photos: Paperkeep uses the system photo picker, which gives it only the photos you pick.
Purchases
Subscriptions and the lifetime purchase are handled by Apple through the App Store. Paperkeep sees whether Pro is active on this device; it never sees your payment details.
Children
Paperkeep collects no data from anyone, including children.
